GED® Records Request

The GED® Unit maintains information about GED® testing in Texas, including GED® certificates and test scores.

We will only have your records if you took the GED® in TEXAS.

 

 

Release Scores to Test Center

  • If you wish for your Testing Center to view you scores on the GED® System, please fill out and fax the GED® Release Scores Request found here.
    • FAX: 512-305-9493.

The following information is needed to locate a record:

  • The candidate's complete name (also include maiden name if applicable);
  • The candidate's Social Security Number (SSN);
  • The candidate's date of birth;
  • The name of the TEXAS testing center where tests were administered; and
  • The address where the record is to be mailed

     

IF YOU NEED YOUR RECORDS FOR:

  • Non-State/Union jobs (jobs that are not state jobs or union jobs)
  • Verification of certificate (to prove that you have passed and received a GED® Certificate)
  • Viewing your test scores
  • Unofficial records (A state seal will NOT be included)
    • With examinees signature Social Security Number and test scores can be included.

    You will need the GED® VERIFICATION/RELEASE REQUEST

  • Union jobs
  • Official certificate for YOUR records
  • To be mailed in a sealed envelope

If you wish to release your GED® testing or GED® Certificate information, fax or e-mail the Verification and Release form and we ONLY fax or e-mail the results to you. To view and print, click on the form below:

GED® Certificate Verification Request and Release Form

  • Verifications are faxed or e-mailed (can not e-mail the form, e-mail the needed information)
  •  State jobs and College/Universities will not accept, although a few technical schools will
  •  Scores will not be included, unless the examinees signature is included

If you wish to request a new/official GED® Certificate-Transcript mail the Certificate Request and we will mail the certificate to the provided address. To view and print, click on the form below:

  •   Also, known as an official transcript.
    • Includes:
      • State seal
      • Scores
      • Wallet size certificate
    • Accepted by:
      • College/Universities
      • State Employers
      • Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), for identification.
  • Certificates can ONLY be requested through mail OR in person at TEA-GED in Austin (please call ahead).
  • There is a $5.00 NON REFUNDABLE fee for official certificates.
    • Payment can be a check or money order ONLY made payable to TEA-GED.
      • Please ensure you have a GED® Certificate issued by the state of Texas!
    • Certificates are mailed to you once payment is received.
  • Allow three weeks for your request to be processed once the GED® Unit has received it.
    • NEED IT SOONER: Overnight* your request to the GED®. It will stay 2-3 days in the accounting department before being forwarded to the GED® Unit. If you wish, you can include another PRE-PAID overnight with your request (fold and put in the first overnight), this will have your certificate back to you in about a week.
